The purpose of Mission Columbus is "Meeting Needs/Making Disciples" which is a major challenge. To fulfill this task, the local church and the association must be partners together with God as we reach our city for Christ.

Mission Columbus is comprised of many ministries that will work hand in hand to assist in reaching the goal of "Meeting Needs/Making Disciples."

Meeting Needs
The Churches of the Columbus Baptist Association can work together in providing supplies and volunteers to see that the needs of the citizens of the area are met. Various types of ministries will be offered:

  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Adult Bible studies
  • Children's Bible studies
  • Christian Women's Job Corp.
  • English (as a) Second Language
  • Backyard Bible clubs
  • Christmas Toy Shop
  • Holiday Dinners
  • Parenting skills
  • After school tutoring
  • Adult reading/writing
  • Medical clinic
  • Computer training
  • Homemaking skills
  • Home repairs
  • Crisis Pregnancy Center
  • Family budgeting
  • GED
  • and others

The Hillcrest Ministry Resource Center, the Miles Ministry Center, Southside Baptist and Cusseta First will carry out these ministries.

Once a year ministry projects will include, but not be limited to, projects such as "Kits 4 Kids", God Bless Ft. Benning, Holiday
Meals and Toy Shop.

"Kits 4 Kids" is a special "back-to-school" event for our area children, which includes school supplies, medical screenings, finger printing, games, and an opportunity for each parent and child to hear and respond to the message and claims of Christ.

Making Disciples
The association can join together in "Meeting Needs," but God has designed the local church to be responsible for "Making Disciples."

Mission Columbus invites each church to become a partner in the process of reaching every guest that comes through one of the ministries. The church may participate in "Making Disciples" by committing to follow up on the guests who may live in their area and welcoming them into their church fellowship. Or the church may become a sponsor or co-sponsor of a new mission church or a house church.
